Dear ACH Friends,
On behalf of the Arab Conference at Harvard Planning Committee and the Harvard Arab Alumni Association, we are excited to welcome you to the fifteenth annual Arab Conference at Harvard, entitled Leaps of Faith: Reimagining Change. The conference will be held on Harvard University’s campus between March 3-5, 2023.
As always, we aim to engage in critical debate and fruitful discussion around the Arab world. In doing so, we hope to bridge the gap between its rich history and promising future. This year’s conference aims to move beyond simply celebrating Arabs — instead calling for the empowerment and justice for different groups and communities across the Arab world and beyond who face numerous disparities. As we explore how Arabs back home and abroad can create a world of prosperity and dignity for all—especially the most vulnerable—we center the question: How can we ensure that the benefits we reap from advancements in our region seep through to every individual?
We stress the significance of this year’s theme, because we are truly cognizant of the dire need of community voices to be uplifted and incorporated in approaches to addressing issues in the Arab world — including economic development, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, political inequality, racism, and exclusion. By offering a diverse range of panels, workshops, and TED style talks that highlight the progress and unleashed potential of Arab countries across the Gulf region, the Levant, and North Africa, we hope that you will leave us with a better understanding of the systems, both historical and modern, that continue to affect Arab communities around the world.
We look forward to seeing you in March!
Warmest Regards,
Heba and Daniah
